Wailua fire causes $700,000 in damages

WAILUA, HI – July 7, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — The owner of a Wailua Homesteads residence, her brother, and three little dogs escaped without injuries after a fire broke out this evening in an upstairs studio apartment, and then spread downstairs to their home.

Neighbors alerted the residents of the Royal Dr. home immediately after noticing the upstairs fire, which enabled them to escape and also move their car and motorcycle out of harm’s way.

Engine 2, Truck 2, Engine 3 and Rescue 3 responded to the 5:38 alarm.

The fire was deemed under control at 6:08 pm and fully extinguished at 6:45 pm.

Damages to the two-bedrm. home, studio apartment and contents are estimated at $700,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross and caring neighbors are providing assistance to the victims.
