HAWAI‘I SECURES FEDERAL SUPPORT FOR MEDICAID-HOUSING AGENCY PARTNERSHIP
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced today that the state has been selected to participate in the collaborative and highly competitive Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP) beginning Apr. 2016. As a participant, Hawai‘i will focus on expanding Medicaid involvement in and support for the state’s housing and homelessness initiatives.
Hawai‘i Selected to Receive Federal Assistance to Address Homelessness
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that Hawai‘i will receive federal assistance through the Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program to help address homelessness in the state. U.S Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, called the federal assistance a victory for Hawai‘i.

TAKAI VOTES TO STREAMLINE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Congressman Mark Takai voted in favor of the bi-partisan Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2015 (H.R. 3700), which makes basic reforms to housing assistance programs so that more can benefit from these programs.
