New HI-5 redemption center opens in Līhu’e

LĪHU’E – March 04, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — County officials are pleased to announce the opening of a new HI-5 certified redemption center for beverage containers in Līhu’e.

The center is located at 3133 ‘Oihana St. between Hopaco-Office Max and Līhu’e Veterinary Hospital in the old Līhu’e Industrial Park.

Operating hours at the facility are Monday to Friday, noon to 6 pm, with no break in services for lunch.

Both residential and commercial loads containing clean and empty beverage containers with the HI-5 label are accepted at the new redemption center.

Customers are advised to sort containers by type – glass, plastic and aluminum – before going to the center and arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.

There are eight other HI-5 redemption centers on Kauai, including: Kekaha, Kōloa, Lāwa‘i, Nāwiliwili Harbor, Līhu‘e, Kapahi, Kīlauea and Hanalei.

Kauai Community Recycling Services operates four of the centers including the new Līhu’e center and the Kekaha, Kīlauea and Kōloa facilities.
